Overview

Lone Star Circle of Care is seeking a dedicated dermatologist to establish specialty care servicing both our federally qualified health center (FQHC) patients and the broader community. The ideal candidate brings expertise in outpatient diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions while embracing a mission-driven, patient-centric approach to care.

Physicians are responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of LSCC and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional employees of the organization. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an outpatient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.

 

Responsibilities

  • Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician’s panel, on an outpatient basis.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic dermatologic conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, autoimmune skin disorders, and complex dermatologic diseases.
  • Perform full-body skin exams, mole evaluations, and skin cancer screenings, with an emphasis on early detection and prevention.
  • Provide basic dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, electrosurgery, intralesional injections, and cyst removal.
  • Manage complex cases requiring systemic therapies, including biologics, immunosuppressants, and oral retinoids.
  • Work closely with primary care providers, behavioral health, and social services teams to co-manage patients with dermatologic conditions linked to chronic diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and HIV.
  • Develop referral pathways for complex dermatologic cases requiring advanced procedures, Mohs surgery, or dermatopathology services. Patients requesting procedures performed primarily for cosmesis may also be referred.
  • Contribute to the development of a dermatology procedural clinic, ensuring safe and efficient workflows for minor surgeries.
  • Provide teledermatology consultations to expand access to dermatologic care for patients in remote or underserved areas.

 

Qualifications

You are a board-certified dermatologist who is passionate about working with the underserved population and those who may be experiencing significant barriers to care.  You want to grow a practice where you get to decide the plan of care.

 

  • Mission focused and passionate about improving access to quality healthcare.
  • Proactive and thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Current valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
  • Current DEA certificate. 
  • Comfortable working independently in a group setting while also seeking support and consultation from colleagues.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with community partners and emergency medical/psychiatric service providers to ensure patient safety, including whether a patient needs a higher level of care.
  • Possesses computer/technology skills to efficiently document using an electronic health record and conduct telemedicine visits, as well as communicating/meeting with colleagues virtually.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills preferred
