Overview

OBJECTIVE:

 

 

Lone Star Circle of Care is recruiting for a Family Medicine Physician in Taylor, Texas. Duties include providing comprehensive out-patient primary medical care for patients under the direction of a Medical Director; examining, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages. Lone Star Circle of Care is an EOE

 

Responsible for the medical care of Lone Star Circle of Care patients by providing comprehensive out-patient primary care. Physicians are responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of Lone Star Circle of Care and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional employees of the organization. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of Lone Star Circle of Care. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.

 

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Daily Duties:

 

  • Provide, examine, diagnose and treat patients of all ages
  • Complete medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system
  • Apply for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC
  • Provide quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director

 

Coaching/Training:

 

  • May provide in-service trainings for staff in selected topics in Family Medicine as deemed necessary by the Medical Director
  • Assure a high quality educational experience for medical students, residents and other individuals in a training role

 

Operations:

 

  • Provide quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC
  • Assist and participates in internal quality control audits
  • Provide supervision to advanced practice nurses and/or physician assistants in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice Agreement
  • Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for patient care delivery
  • Fulfill established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels
  • Achieve and maintain LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC's Quality Standards
  • Actively monitor and engaged in hitting their productivity and quality metrics
  • Meet or exceed budgeted provider encounter targets
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required

 

Compliance:

 

  • Apply for and obtains staff (adjunct) privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC’s Quality Standards
  • Fulfill established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels
  • Achieve and maintain LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
  • Apply for and sustain faculty appointment at Texas A&M University or other institutions as required
  • Physician will maintain all credentialing and licensing per LSCC policy
  • Physician will maintain MOC per ABIM/AOBIM guidelines and board certification while at LSCC.
  • Perform monthly peer audits
  • Have monthly meetings with their collaborating supervising nurse practitioner(s)/physician assistant(s)
  • Achieve defined quality metrics
  • Actively monitor and engaged in hitting their productivity and quality metrics
  • Maintain competencies, LMS trainings, BLS (AHA) as current

     

Qualifications

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training
  • Demonstrate an interest in community medicine
  • Ability to deal effectively with patients, medical staff, administration and the public
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community
  • Ability to recognize and understand the public health, social, and economic factors which impact the overall health of LSCC patients
  • Ability to support LSCC mission and readily serve its patient population
  • Maintain a professional manner and appearance that contributes to the professional image presented to individuals within and outside of LSCC
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation
  • Ability to work in and support electronic health records environment
  • Ability to travel and work from various clinic locations as necessary

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Current valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Board eligibility or certification in Family Practice (ABFM, ABOFM) is required
  • Board certification is required within three (3) years of achieving initial eligibility
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Maintain continuing education as required by licensing and any applicable accrediting boards, maintenance of certification if applicable, and completes additional educational units as required by LSCC (e.g., risk management courses)

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Two (2) years’ experience in an outpatient healthcare clinical setting
  • Previous work and proficiency using electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are preferred but not required
