Overview

OBJECTIVE:

 

Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient primary care. Nurse Practitioners are responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of LSCC and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional employees of the organization.  Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with a multicultural, multilingual patient population.

 

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Daily Job Duties:

 

  • Provides examines, diagnoses and treats patients of the age group appropriate to clinic/service line assignment and provider's certification/privileges
  • Complete medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system
  • Applies for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC
  • Provide quality medical care according to (disease) guidelines, standards and policies established by LSCC
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director

 

Operations:

 

  • Provide quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC
  • Assist and participate in internal quality control audits
  • Practice in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice Agreement; establish medical diagnoses for patients that are within the scope of practice, and order or prescribe legend drugs and medical devices as authorized by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE) under Rules 221 and 222, and the Texas Medical Board (TMB) under Rules 2 and 193.6Type in specific job duties under this area
  • Fulfill established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels
  • Achieve and maintain LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC's Quality Standards
  • Actively monitor and engaged in hitting their productivity and quality metrics

  • Meet or exceed budgeted provider encounter targets
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required

 

Compliance:

 

  • Apply for and obtains staff (adjunct) privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC’s Quality Standards
  • Fulfill established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels
  • Achieve and maintain LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
  • Nurse Practitioner will maintain all credentialing and licensing per LSCC policy
  • Nurse Practitioner will maintain MOC per APRN guidelines and board certification while at LSCC.
  • Perform monthly peer audits
  • Have monthly meetings with their collaborating supervising physician
  • Achieve defined quality metrics
  • Maintain competencies, LMS trainings, BLS (AHA) as current

     

     

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Current Registered Nurse and Advance Practice Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas
  • DEA as required by Service line
  • Nurse Practitioner Board Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • DEA as required by Service line
  • Maintain continuing education as required by licensing and any applicable accrediting boards, maintenance of certification if applicable, and completes additional educational units as required by LSCC (e.g., risk management courses).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a healthcare clinical setting Family Medicine preferred
  • Previous work and proficiency using electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are preferred but not required
